is there a way to save imessages forever on my mac but only for 30 days on my ios devices?

I want to free up some space on my iPad and iPhone, but I do want to keep my iMessages forever, just not on those devices. I have a lot of space on my mac mini so I was hoping I could keep the 'forever' setting there and have my iOS devices only save messages for a year or 30 days. Does anyone know if this is possible? or will the setting sync across all my devices?

As pervious outlined and using Message in iCloud when one devices is changed to 30 Days - All other devices are also changed to match the 30 Days.

Just to test before posting this reply, iPhone was set to Forever as was M1 MBA.

Changed iPhone to 30 Days and Immediately the M1 MBA changes to 30 Days

Hello constantin165,

If you set those messages to delete after 30 days, the setting will sync across devices. The same thing will happen if you're using Messages in the iCloud and delete one. Use Messages in iCloud - Apple Support

If you're wanting to free up some space, have a look at this article: How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Cheers!
