I just want to check this, as far as I can tell iPadOS 16 is out and my iPad 9th gen model MK2K3HC/A should be compatible with the update, but when I check for an update I am told that 15.7 is the latest version of the iPadOS for my tablet. Is this correct or am I missing something?

Unlike iOS16 for iPhone, released 12th September (iOS 16.0.1 subsequently released 16th September), iPadOS16 is not due for release until sometime in October.
However, iPadOS 15.7 was also released 12th September - incorporating essential security updates.

While iOS16 is available for iPhone, iPhone owners have the option to just install iOS15.7 at this time.
