Powerbeats pro connecting to iPhone and draining battery when in case

I read some other recommendations and I do not find them helpful. I have had my Powerbeats pro for a long time and they used to not connect to devices when in the case. For some reason over the past several months my headphones will connect when in the case and closed (not plugged into a charging device). The solution of turning my bluetooth off or "forgetting this device" is a poor solution to a problem that recently started. I'm not sure if this is related to one o IOS's updates or not, but a fix should be found as I should be able to keep them in their case when they are fully charged and have batter life when I wish to use them and not have to constantly be changing my settings on every device I have ever connected to them.
