Is my 1st gen Apple Pencil completely broken?

My first generation apple pen is no longer working. I’ve tried every troubleshooting method I could find. The pen IS charging and DOSE connect to my iPad Pro. Even though it’s connected and charged it will not work. I’ve tried: tightening the pen nib, replacing the pen nib, letting the pen charge to full, letting the pen get to 3% battery, cleaning the inside of the nib (carefully), letting the pen sit for two weeks, forgetting the device form my tablet, reconnecting the device, restarting my tablet, resetting my tablet’s network settings, updating my iOS, and even trying to connect the pen to a different iPad. I’m pretty sure it’s just broken, but I can’t get any definitive answers. Is it dead?
