iMessage text groups will not delete

In prior IOS, when I'd delete a text thread, the group would not stay populated in my iMesssage contacts. For instance, see the attached photo, if I go to text my brother, all of the prior text groups he was in stays populated and I cannot delete. Is anyone else experiencing this? Can I correct it?
