my apple maps labels in wrong language

Could you post a screenshot of System Preferences->Lang
& Region? If you click on Apps there, is any app in the list? (Usually, there aren’t any).
Could you post a screenshot of maps showing some of the labels in the wrong language?
What are your Language & Region settings?
In what language are you seeing the the labels?
Does the Maps application itself appear in the correct language?
Do you have Location Services activated?
the labels are the only ones that is in French I think.
all other items have been checked and are correct
The problem is only on my MacBook Pro m2
Labels when using my iPad have no problems. They are in English. I live in Australia. I believe the language is in French on the labels.

Sorry, I have no idea why that language suddenly appeared in Maps running in English in Australia...
As a sidenote, for some reason, and although you can run almost any application in a different language by clicking here:
then adding the desired app and language (so, for an absurd example, you could run your system in English, Safari in French and Mail in Italian...), you CANNOT change the language used in Maps in this way - Maps is greyed out, as are a small number of other things...
