Apple tv+ free trial messages obstructing use on new Mac

Bit confused here.

We're already paying for Apple TV+

Because I recently bought a new Mac we now have free trial messages.

On our Apple TV+ app on our TV we see these messages but are able to play all content but are unable to do so on new Mac where we can't get past free trail notices. I would have thought the fact that we are paying for it already would have been detected?
