1. Is this a new Apple TV box has hasn’t been configured yet? Or is it moved from a different TV?
2. When you power up the Apple TV, does the status light start glowing?
3. You will need to set the TV to take input from the corresponding HDMI port. Depending on the functionality of the TV, you may be able to have that selection made automatically later.

That doesn’t matter. An external streaming device ignores (takes over) the smart functionality of the TV anyway.

The current video settings on the Apple TV box may not match the capability of the TV. This can be solved with the instructions from the second bullet point from: If your Apple TV doesn't turn on - Apple Support
