Depending on if you wanted to use Apple Mail and run Gmail from there.

That's one method. At times, it works well. Other times, a browser is better.

• Mail - Official Apple Support

//support.apple.com/mail

For iOS iPhone, another option seems to do OK; and that's to use an App.

• Gmail - Email by Google ~ on the App Store

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/gmail-email-by-google/id422689480

With this, you can have more than one Gmail account in your phone;

and also if you want to avoid Safari issues with gmail app. (This trick

will help avoid Safari History clogged with Gmail content). Get & use

iOS 'Google Search' App. ~ This adds to gmail in iOS, what the MacOS's

default does; without gmail's bulk inclusion into Safari's search history.

• Google on the App Store (google Search/for iOS)

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/google/id284815942

An annoying feature of the Safari 'default search' in iOS, once one uses

Gmail, is that Safari History is totally populated by Gmail. IF you try what

I've found, & patiently 'dial' it in, Safari continues to work. ~ Differently.

Safari's History in iPhone won't be full of gmail's constant logs; in out-

going email. Having used gmail as webmail, in Mac, then using Google

search; is an answer. You may not recognize this 'til you look into Safari.

..The companion bits for better use of google gmail app in iOS, from my

experience; try google search app; to keep Gmail out of Safari searches.

And to add additional free storage for images, add Google Photos, too..

With using google gmail and google search, as your iOS email client pkg:

Set the security as high as possible; in GMail. ~ You may or may not want

to use two-factor authentication, for Google Gmail in this configuration.

This can be used to sync across devices and computers, easily.

Should you seek email help; that's probably covered in "Gmail

Help Center" pages; there's a ton of stuff. (Most used are first.)

..Some mac users might not wish to use gmail as iOS default..
