Focus is turned off but have a half moon next to time on my iphone when on a call

I have focus turned off. iOS 16 But on my iphone when I'm on a call I have a half moon following the time on my iphone display.

Well there is a bug I guess. I went into the control panel, turned focus on, and then turned it off and the half moon disappeared.

How does focus work on iphone? It appears that my phone won't ring while the focus is on.

Actually I have the half moon on my home screen as well. This is new since iOS 16
