I have all the apps that regularly have messages to read in a group/ folder on my Home Screen, gmail, outlook,what’s app, eBay etc
badges show when you open the group or long press but don’t show otherwise
is this a iOS 16 issue or something easier?

Being able to see your notification badges is important, so you can stay up-to-date and informed. Since there were some changes with the most recent update, be sure to check that your Notification Settings are to your preference. Since your iPhone also has a switch to mute it, check your iPhone to ensure that you haven’t set it to mute. “To put your iPhone in Silent mode, move the switch so that orange is showing.” How to put your iPhone on vibrate, ring, or silent mode
