AppleCare plus Portugal

Hello. My name is Catarina and I’m contacting you because of my AppleCare plus. My iPhone 12 Pro Max felt and broke the glass and some peace inside. I went to one of your official repair stores ( there is no Apple Store in Portugal) and they told me I could use my apple care plus to get a new phone. But I also called Portugal client support and they advised me that apple care is not available and I can’t use it in Portugal. Can you please tell me if this apple care plus can be use or not in Portugal?
