FCP, Bad quality when video and pictures are brought down onto the timeline

Thank you. Please post a screen shot of the FCP project settings. Choose Window > Project Properties or press Command-J. Click the Inspector button in the toolbar. In the Project Properties inspector, click the Modify button in the top-right corner. It will look something like this:

To the right of the Viewer, there is a View popup menu. Is Quality set to Better Quality and Media Playback set to Optimized/Original?

Open one of your files in QuickTime Player and take a screenshot (Command Shift 4) of the Inspector window. It will look something like this:

View->Actual Size

What are the specs of the media as they appear in the QuickTime Inspector window?

"Standard Rec.709

1920x1080 24p"

Is this the project properties?

What size are the still images? Is the quality poor when the image is still or during playback?

Please give the complete specs of the video and the project properties you're using.

Your project is 1080p HD. What is the frame size of the media?

You're scaling the images down a huge amount. Is there some reason they need to be that large? Try saving them in the HD size and see how they look in the project.

Sebastian, this (probably) won't help you with the current problem, but as a new FCP user you'd benefit greatly from watching these two free tutorials that will save you a ton of time in the future.
