Does iPhone 11 turn on flash light from the lock screen, but only turn it off if i enter the pass code?

I have had the flash light turn on mysteriously 3-4 times, but I have been unable to turn it off without unlocking the lock screen.

This is different from my previous phone. It seems really strange, but it occurred to me that it is possible that I might be accidentally touching the icon on the lock screen that shows the flashlight, which cannot be deactivated if I don't enter my code for unlocking the lock screen.

Even if that screen is not locked, but it is in a screen saver mode, I cannot use that icon. I always have to exit the screensaver, and then pull down the screen with all the icons (flashlight, wifi, data, etc), then i can turn off the flashlight.

So I am wondering what might be going on. This is kind of strange, as I am certain that I am not pulling down that screen with all of the icons to turn on the flashlight.

It shouldn't be that I can accidentally turn it on from the lock screen, but I have to get off that or the screensaver and in some sort of settings (but you know what I mean) to actually turn it off. Previously, it was much easier to turn that on and off.

Hello JoshuaCM,

If your iPhone flashlight is turning on unexpectedly from the Lock Screen, you should be able to turn it off by pressing and holding the flashlight icon. If you're unable to do so, we'd suggest starting by making sure the software on your iPhone 11 is updated to the latest version, which is iOS 16.0.2. You can check which version is installed in Settings > General > About, then follow these steps to update:

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch wirelessly
1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. Choose the software update that you want to install. You can choose to stay on iOS or iPadOS 15 and still get important security updates. Or you can choose the option to upgrade to iOS or iPadOS 16.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

Also, when trying to turn off the flashlight from the Lock Screen, you'll want to be sure you're pressing and holding the flashlight icon:

You can also turn on the flashlight from the Lock screen: Press and hold the Flashlight button Flashlight icon, in the bottom-left corner.

Take care.
