Problems after updating to iOS 16

since I updated my iPhone 12 the charging frequently pauses due to excessive heat.

Also battery drains more rapidly.

is this common?

Not sure if it’s common (didn't personally experience it with any of the 12 in my home) but definitely contact Apple about the issue.
