I am attempting to erase my MacBook Pro (2018) with the T2 Security Chip but I am getting the message "Set Secure Boot to Full Security" and the instructions fall apart at this point.

Has anyone had this issue? I am trying to update the security level so I can erase the hard drive and pass this Mac on to a family member. Unfortunately, using CMD-R to reboot doesn't provide any options to perform the steps shown in this article: About Startup Security Utility on a Mac with the Apple T2 Security Chip - Apple Support

Thanks for the help.

It begs the question why are you wanting to erase to begin with...

If you have a Firmware password set— maybe try disabling that if you continue to have an issue, from the Terminal.app:

check for Firmware password set..(?)

sudo firmwarepasswd -check

sudo firmwarepasswd -verify

allows you to verify you have the correct password (without rebooting).

sudo firmwarepasswd -delete

deletes the firmware password. You'll need the current one to delete it, of course.
