Connecting Airpods to my iMac with Bootcamp doesn´t work!

Hi I literally tried everything and didn´t came to a solution. In the bluetooth settings it says paired, but it isn´t connected and recognised as a bluetooth headset. The airpods are from the 1st generation and I run Windows 10 via Bootcamp on an iMac Retina 5k 2015.

What I tried: (The airpods work fine with other devices)

  • Reconnecting the Airpods
  • Updating Windows
  • Updating Bluetooth Drivers
  • Disable Emulate LE Driver
  • Resetting the airpods
  • Using 5 GHz network instead of 2,4 GHz
  • Updating the apple-bootcamp software via usb-stick
  • Checked the airpods firmware for the newest version
  • I also tried to install some Bluetooth drivers from 2013 I saw on the internet but none of them worked.
  • Connecting the airpods first on macOS

I am really on the edge of giving up and the worst part about it is that they worked fine 1 month ago, so... Apple, it works so well with macOS please give us new working software so I can use my airpods on windows 10 again!

Any help is veeery appreciated :=)

Hey notsch2004.

You mentioned the AirPods work on other devices just fine. Have you tested another Windows 10 based computer? If you have, and they work fine there, the issue would likely be within the Bluetooth drivers within windows itself. The previous comment mentioned backing up your windows data using the method of your choice and reinstalling Windows. This does seem like a step that may assist, as it will reinstall Windows completely, including the drivers and software for Bluetooth devices.

Remove Windows from your Mac using Boot Camp has detailed steps on how to remove Windows. They'll be below for ease:

  1. " Start up your Mac in macOS.
  2. Back up all important data stored on your Windows partition before you remove Windows.
  3. WARNING: When Windows is removed, the Windows partition—as well as all data stored in the partition—will be erased permanently.
  4. Quit all open apps and log out any other users.
  5. Open Boot Camp Assistant , then click Continue.
  6. If the Select Tasks step appears, select “Remove Windows 10 or later version,” then click Continue.
  7. Do one of the following:
    • If your Mac has a single internal disk, click Restore.
    • If your Mac has multiple internal disks, select the Windows disk, select “Restore disk to a single macOS partition,” then click Continue. "

At this point, you can use Install Windows 10 on your Mac with Boot Camp Assistant to reinstall Windows. If you'd prefer to troubleshoot this more, Microsoft may be able to assist with getting Bluetooth accessories to successfully pair and work with Windows 10.

Take care.

Good day to you notsch2004,

Are you able to verify that your Mac is running macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 or higher right now? You can check that in Apple menu > About This Mac. If not, please install that update. Then you’ll want to backup your Windows 10 data using your preferred method and using Boot Camp Assistant to remove the existing partition and reinstall Windows.

Set up a Windows partition on your Mac

Thanks.
