Anyone having a problem importing media into iMovie

This is to be verified, but on a Mac freshly upgraded to OS Monterey 12.6, I can no longer move imported video or photo media into an iMovie project (drag it into the timeline). I happen to own two Macs. The second on is still on OS 12.5.1. and iMovie on this one has no problem importing.

So the word of caution is, if you us iMovie take this under advisement before updating your OS. Perhaps Apple can offer a better answer than what I find online so far.

You didn't mention any details as to the solutions that your online answers offered. However, sometimes with upgrades iMovie preferences can go awry. In that case often deleteing/resetting preferences will cure the problem.

To delete/reset preferences, open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Possibly you may need to reboot to set the changes.  Deleting preferences is a safe procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to your project.

You could also try creating a new project and seeing if you can drag video's or photos into its timeline.

I'm having issues importing video to imovie from my iphone 13 Pro. Video is fine on phone and on computer but when viewed on iMovie it shows up as extreme white like the white balance is off almost like your video was in direct sunlight except it's the same inside. Picture on top is a screenshot of a photo in imovie and the one on bottom was a screenshot of the video in iMovie. Same project same board. I bought the 13 Pro specifically for youtube videos and haven't been able to use it. Is there a setting on iMovie or is my FPS too high on my phone?
