My payment method suddenly started getting declined. I added a new one and it worked after the first 2 purchases. And then it started getting declined again. Why?

I had a payment method that was working perfectly. All of a sudden it started getting declined on iTunes and App Store. After it continuously declined my payment method I decided to add another payment method. Doing this worked. I was able to purchase 2 songs. And then it started declining the new payment method as well. Why is this happening? Why did it decline the first one. And why did it decline this new one too? I have no unpaid purchases and my information is correct. So please what is the problem and how can I fix it?

Are you seeing any message that explains why the payment was declined?


For example, does it say the card was declined, or there is a problem with the payment method?


Here are some steps from the article you came from, If your payment method is declined in the App Store or iTunes Store - Apple Support, that you want to be sure to try:


If a payment method can’t be charged
  1. Use your device to check your payment information. You might see red text that explains why the payment method can't be charged.

2. If your card was declined, add a new payment method or update your payment information. You can add multiple payment methods to your Apple ID.
3. Your payment method will be charged for the unpaid balance. Then you can make other purchases and update your apps, including free apps.

If you use Family Sharing and Purchase Sharing is turned on, the family organizer must update their billing information or add a new payment method. If you're not the family organizer, you can't change the payment method.


If the message indicates your account has been disabled in the App Store, then you will want to reach out to the Apple Account Team here: Get Support
