apple watching pairing set-up asks me to enter password for an apple ID that I no longer use

Apple watching pairing set-up asks me to enter password for an apple ID that I no longer use. That's for FaceTime and iMessage. I didn't even remember the password for that account. I tried resetting password, but I don't think it may work anyways as my current apple ID isn't that. Also is there any way I can skip this step for now and proceed setting up my apple watch?

You can ask apple to remove the activation lock online on this page;

Online Activation Lock Removal Here.

Or this;

If you can't remember/gain access to the apple id that paired the watch to the phone.Take the watch and it's receipt with the serial number along with some photo id and any other proof of ownership to an Apple Store and request that they remove the Activation Lock for you.
