Update: Having tested CarPlay in the vehicle using another Home Member's iP8 and seeing the garage door icon appear, this isolated the issue to my iPX. The phone was given a Hard Reset, having previously tried airplane mode/power cycle, which after reconnecting to the vehicle displayed the garage icon in CarPlay - good news!

Have not yet tested the geofence automations, but hoping this too will be resolved.

Hope this feedback might be helpful to others.

Hi TomOmri,

If you are having trouble with CarPlay you can follow the steps in If you need help with CarPlay:

  1. "Check your connection to your CarPlay stereo:
    • If you have a wired connection, try connecting again with a different USB cable to a different USB port if you have one.
    • If you have a wireless connection, make sure that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled under Settings > Wi-Fi and Settings > Bluetooth.

2. If CarPlay doesn't activate automatically, look for the CarPlay logo on your car's display.

3. Restart your iPhone and your car.

4. Make sure that Siri is on.

5. If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, tap Allowed Apps and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.

6. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again.

7. Make sure that your CarPlay stereo is using the latest firmware from the car manufacturer. Check your car's manual for more information.

If you still have issues connecting to CarPlay, contact Apple Support."

Take care.

I too have encountered this issue within the last few days - iOS16 IpX. I also noticed some geofenced automations not working also. When checking the HomeKit automation settings the adjustable geofence does not show, yet if I enter the address it does, but notes people for this home automation will be removed. Given both the Garage Door and Automations rely on geolocation, I believe that is the issue.

Additionally, since iOS16 my street address has been abbreviated on Apple Maps as in "Drive" becomes Dr and if I enter the address with Dr the geofencing returns, but does not match my contact card. Have also toggled HK in Apps using iCloud and the location in HomeKit.

Will wait to see if this is related to the not having OS parity with iPad and Mac and then re-examine - my ATV/HP acting as server all on v16.

If it persists after next update round, will file a bug report.
