iOS 16 Screen Flickering

I’ve bought an iPhone 13 on the day of official release of IOS 16. After activation I immediately installed it. A couple of days later I started to notice some flickering on the display. This small(but kinda annoying) blinkering screen especially noticeable at brightness lower 40% and in black pixels(night mode). I’ve heard that this problem is most common for users of AMOLED display iPhones(12, 13, 13 mini). We need to force this issue in order to Apple noticed it and fixed in the next update(in IOS 16.0.2 there is still flickering). Does anyone have such problem?

I updated my iPhone 12 mini to iOS 16.1 recently and I still have this problem. When brightness is set below ~40% black parts of screen turns grey when anything is moving on the screen. It is annoying while watching YouTube.

To be more precisely: the screen changes hue when the brightness slider is lower than about 45 percent. in the place of 45% you can see a sudden change in the colors of the screen. And under this level, screen flickering on black parts of display is happening.

Hey @sumukh256, I can safely downgrade my iPhone 13 to iOS 15.7, right?
ill use a mac for the process! Haven’t done this before ever

You can for as long as 15.7 is signed, but you will lose all data on your phone and you will have to either restore a backup made before you updated or manually reinstall all your apps. You will not be able to restore a backup made with iOS 16.

i have the same issue, it is driving me crazy. and it keeps increasing. i was trying to convince local authorised support and friends to see it but all called me crazy untill finally a friend noticed it on his iPhone 13 as well.

for those who want to see it clearly , lower your brightness to around 40% and open clock app. try to set an alarm and you can see the screen flicker as you scroll through the timer.

Apple must fix this ASAP. it

If the screen changes hue and you don’t like this feature go to Settings/Display & Brightness and turn off True-Tone.

No! It’s not addicted to TrueTone. Like I showed in the screenshots: When I slide brightness bar under this level, screen changes color a little. It’s like jump of hue. Under this level screen is changing colors on black parts when something is moving on screen. It is visible for example around the notch, in settings app when page is scrolled up to the top. When I Turn off TrueTone it doesn’t do anything. Problem still exists.

I’m using a iPhone 12 Pro with iOS 15.6.1 and have the same issue.

For me it’s most notable in the message app where there is dark background. Circumstances: dark room, dark mode, brightness @ 25%. True Tone or Night Shift don’t make a difference.

It seems to be reproducible by scrolling in the messages. If you collapse the keyboard (no cursor blinking) and scroll: while moving the background gets a little brighter, after stopping it goes completely dark again.

It seems like the OLEDs get turned on slightly. I guess it’s to prevent some kind of ghosting, where pixel don’t turn on quickly enough so scrolling through completely black segments can look weird and slushy. So they just turn on the pixels if they expect movement (eg while scrolling).

but the weird flickering (eg while the cursor is blinking or whatever the reason might be) is very annoying.

there has to be a way to fix this :/
