iOS 16 Screen Flickering

I’ve bought an iPhone 13 on the day of official release of IOS 16. After activation I immediately installed it. A couple of days later I started to notice some flickering on the display. This small(but kinda annoying) blinkering screen especially noticeable at brightness lower 40% and in black pixels(night mode). I’ve heard that this problem is most common for users of AMOLED display iPhones(12, 13, 13 mini). We need to force this issue in order to Apple noticed it and fixed in the next update(in IOS 16.0.2 there is still flickering). Does anyone have such problem?

I updated my iPhone 12 mini to iOS 16.1 recently and I still have this problem. When brightness is set below ~40% black parts of screen turns grey when anything is moving on the screen. It is annoying while watching YouTube.

To be more precisely: the screen changes hue when the brightness slider is lower than about 45 percent. in the place of 45% you can see a sudden change in the colors of the screen. And under this level, screen flickering on black parts of display is happening.

IMO iOS 16 was released too soon and not enough QA testing was performed. But yes better to wait it out for the next updated. I’m now left with a phone that has mangled pentalobe screws from Apple opening it 3 times 🙃

What is “enough?” It was beta tested for 3 months by over a million users. Do you think another few days would have made a difference>

Hey, I am facing the same issue. I bought 13 on 24th September and I immediately updated to 16 before transferring my old iPhone's data and when I start using, I noticed the flickering. It flickers intermediately at mid brightness level and while typing. Specially noticeable in dark mode. I went to the apple service center, and they did nothing just reinstalled the iOS and gave back to me, saying that the MRI Diagonostic test is passed and shows nothing and the flickering they were not able to notice. It feels they don't even want to. If the device was out of warranty, I am sure they would have noticed as they get some commission. Not sure, if this is some hardware specific issue particular with the display panel or some iOS glitch. It doesn't seem to me an iOS glitch because, if it would have been then there should have been much greater number of users who would have faced this issue. Apple should take care of their customer's concerns seriously. Can't say how much this flickering thing bothers while using the phone. Still no solution.

If it’s on a small number of devices it is not a generic problem that can be fixed by waving a magic wand. It is necessary to evaluate devices that have the problem to see what is causing it. That’s why you need to contact Apple support rather than just post in this user-to-user forum. Start with Get Support at the top of this page.

EXACTLY. They don’t know what the problem is, and the only way they will find out is to see it on multiple phones, which is why you should take it to a genius bar, where every incident is logged. It isn’t even clear that it is a single problem; it is a symptom, and the symptom can have multiple causes. Every genius bar visit and every contact using the Get Support link is logged, and when they see a pattern they can address it. Clearly, they haven’t been able to reproduce the problem in their lab or they would have fixed it.

this is an issue that you don’t notice until you actually pay attention and it happens under specific circumstances only, that’s probably why a lot of people even though are experiencing this issue aren’t noticing it enough to report it. I myself didn’t notice it for more than a week until I heard about this issue and only found out when I paid attention to it, and once you notice it you can’t un-notice it, don’t say this issue doesn’t exist widespread because it definitely does exist and it IS a software issue and not a hardware one.
