iOS 16 Screen Flickering

I’ve bought an iPhone 13 on the day of official release of IOS 16. After activation I immediately installed it. A couple of days later I started to notice some flickering on the display. This small(but kinda annoying) blinkering screen especially noticeable at brightness lower 40% and in black pixels(night mode). I’ve heard that this problem is most common for users of AMOLED display iPhones(12, 13, 13 mini). We need to force this issue in order to Apple noticed it and fixed in the next update(in IOS 16.0.2 there is still flickering). Does anyone have such problem?

I bought my iPhone 13 3 months ago and i updated to iOS 16 on the release day. I am facing the same issue as well. Screen flickering especially in darker areas at 40% brightness. The brightness flickers as the screen refreshes, what I mean to say is, when any data gets changed on the screen, it flickers. Very noticible while typing, changing the time while setting an alerm, uploading a file to google drive etc.

I contacted the apple customer support. They couldnt help as the issue was not visible to camera or screen recording. So they suggested me to visit a Apple service centre. I will be going there tomorrow.

BTW I have tried resetting to factory once but the problem is still there. I have also updated to iOS 16.0.2 and that did not solve the issue.

Pretty weird issue TBH. I lot of people I know, have iPhones, but none of them are facing this issue or maybe they havent noticed very closely.

I will keep this thread updated.

i have the same issue, it is driving me crazy. and it keeps increasing. i was trying to convince local authorised support and friends to see it but all called me crazy untill finally a friend noticed it on his iPhone 13 as well.

for those who want to see it clearly , lower your brightness to around 40% and open clock app. try to set an alarm and you can see the screen flicker as you scroll through the timer.

Apple must fix this ASAP. it

this is an issue that you don’t notice until you actually pay attention and it happens under specific circumstances only, that’s probably why a lot of people even though are experiencing this issue aren’t noticing it enough to report it. I myself didn’t notice it for more than a week until I heard about this issue and only found out when I paid attention to it, and once you notice it you can’t un-notice it, don’t say this issue doesn’t exist widespread because it definitely does exist and it IS a software issue and not a hardware one.

Please get Apple aware about this problem! It’s getting more frustrating and I feel like nobody cares about this situation in Apple community

Who are you addressing this to. YOU are the only one who can make Apple aware of your issue. Just asking other users is a waste of time, yours and ours. Product Feedback - Apple

I’m using a iPhone 12 Pro with iOS 15.6.1 and have the same issue.

For me it’s most notable in the message app where there is dark background. Circumstances: dark room, dark mode, brightness @ 25%. True Tone or Night Shift don’t make a difference.

It seems to be reproducible by scrolling in the messages. If you collapse the keyboard (no cursor blinking) and scroll: while moving the background gets a little brighter, after stopping it goes completely dark again.

It seems like the OLEDs get turned on slightly. I guess it’s to prevent some kind of ghosting, where pixel don’t turn on quickly enough so scrolling through completely black segments can look weird and slushy. So they just turn on the pixels if they expect movement (eg while scrolling).

but the weird flickering (eg while the cursor is blinking or whatever the reason might be) is very annoying.

there has to be a way to fix this :/
