iOS 16 Screen Flickering

I wouldn’t bother going into a store. The staff have no idea it’s and issue and Apple hasn’t officially acknowledged the issue. They may out of goodwill replace your screen or rear system but this is absolutely pointless as it will not resolve anything. I did it weeks ago right after the release of iOS16 and it was just a waste of my time…

EXACTLY. They don’t know what the problem is, and the only way they will find out is to see it on multiple phones, which is why you should take it to a genius bar, where every incident is logged. It isn’t even clear that it is a single problem; it is a symptom, and the symptom can have multiple causes. Every genius bar visit and every contact using the Get Support link is logged, and when they see a pattern they can address it. Clearly, they haven’t been able to reproduce the problem in their lab or they would have fixed it.

It’s a bug. Apple just said that 16.0.3 will be released end of these week to fix screen flickering problems.

to everyone wondering if its a software or a hardware issue, it’s definitely software because i downgraded to ios 15.7 and the issue is gone and the phone works fine as ever

Mine got fixed after updating to 16.1. I would suggest to go for fresh install once. Restore your phone then check.

Yes the issue is fixed with 16.1

I updated my iPhone 12 mini to iOS 16.1 recently and I still have this problem. When brightness is set below ~40% black parts of screen turns grey when anything is moving on the screen. It is annoying while watching YouTube.

To be more precisely: the screen changes hue when the brightness slider is lower than about 45 percent. in the place of 45% you can see a sudden change in the colors of the screen. And under this level, screen flickering on black parts of display is happening.

I have the exact same issue and it seems to be well documented on the reddit iOS thread. It’s driving me insane. Apple replaced my screen, asked me to do a factory reset and then replaced the ‘rear system’ which is basically everything except the screen. So basically they’ve replaced the whole phone to no avail. This is clearly an iOS 16 software issue and needs to be resolved. I’m at the point where I’m considering ditching the phone altogether and going back to android…

It is flickering on your phone, but not on many millions of phones, so you need to troubleshoot the problem with your phone. As it is only a small number of phones it isn’t something that Apple can fix globally; you need to get tech support from Apple.

If it’s on a small number of devices it is not a generic problem that can be fixed by waving a magic wand. It is necessary to evaluate devices that have the problem to see what is causing it. That’s why you need to contact Apple support rather than just post in this user-to-user forum. Start with Get Support at the top of this page.

Nope. Apple replaced my screen, then asked me to factory reset the phone and then replaced the rear system which is everything except the screen lol. Issue went away only because the new rear system was loaded with 15.4, I updated to 16.0.1 and back the issue came 🙃

the issue seems to be resolved after updating to ios16.1 but need further usage to fully confirm.
