MacBook crashed after making a loud popping sound

Hello, I had quite the jumpscare a few minutes ago while working.

My model is a MacBook Pro 16, with an M1 Pro chip. macOS Monterey 12.5. It's around a month old. While working the laptop suddenly made a huge popping noise, went black, and then restarted.

The sound it made is hard to describe, it sounded like a gunshot or something, a loud popping sound. I was honestly surprised the laptop turned back on.

A prompt showed up asking me if I wanted to report the crash, which I did. I called Apple Care next, in short, they told me to keep using it as normal and to call them back if this happens again.

What could have happened? Has anyone encountered this before?

The only two things which can really produce noise in these laptops are the speakers or the fan. I know on the later Intel Macs (2018 - 2020) some of them make an odd swooshing sound when powered off, but not a loud pop.

Check to see if it may have produced a Kernel Panic log. Use the Finder to navigate to "/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports" so see if any files begin with "kernel". If so, paste the contents of the log here using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper.

You can try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected.

Hello! Thank you for the help and sorry for my late reply.

I couldn't find a file beginning with `kernel` but I found a couple of logs that happened at the time of the crash.

I ran the Apple Diagnostic and fortunately, it turned out to be ok.
