My AirPods Pro 2nd gen has issues with firmware 5A377.

I purchased it yesterday, 9/23.

There were no problems with the AirPods Pro 2nd gen just when I bought it yesterday, but since yesterday evening, it has caught a cold [...] I saw that its firmware was changed to 5A377. Maybe it's a terrible coincidence, but my AirPods Pro 2nd gen caught a bad cold after the firmware update.

The issues with my AirPods Pro 2nd generation with a lousy cold are as follows.

Apple Music

a. Gen2 suspending seconds.

It suspends 2-3seconds and resumes playing if I play music by chance.

But playing any Playlist has no trouble.

Playing Youtube: This is super terrible.

a. The synchronization of the video and audio of the video clip is destroyed.

The audio continues to play, but the video stops.

b. At the situation of a, the video clip warps back to the point where the last synchronization is achieved.

c. YouTube repeats a and b above playing with Gen2

Why do I think the AirPods Pro 2nd gen is responsible for the above issues?

Answer: I did the same test with the 1st gen of it, and no issues.

There is no issue with Airpods Pro 1st Gen like above. Rather, there was no problem with 1st Gen.

Why am I suspicious of firmware 5A377 as the cause of these issues?

Answer: There were no issues before the update. (5A377)

Please check the firmware 5A377 for AirPods Pro 2nd generation.

Thank you for your advice Jeff.

Let me write down about my Apple store support experience to help those who are experiencing the same issue as me.

In conclusion, it was a fruitless visit.

I visited the Apple Store on 9/26/2022 for technical support. It must have been the first business day since Apple's new earbuds came out.

The Apple technician first checked my earbuds using a test machine to see if there was anything wrong with my hardware. When this test found nothing, he installed firmware 5A377 directly into my earbuds using their machine.

I then came home and found that Apple's support had not solved anything.

Here's what I learned more about this issue:

1. Various issues appear when spatial audio is turned on.

a. Lags and music stuttering when playing Apple Music.

b. Unable to play Youtube movie clip / Desynchronization of video and sound.

c, AirPods Pro 2nd generation suddenly disconnects while playing Apple Music: In this case, connection reset is required.

2. If you turn off spatial audio and listen, the above issue 1 does not occur.

a. I played Youtube while sleeping in stereo mode, and it played until I woke up the next morning.

Therefore, it seems unlikely that this issue will be resolved unless Apple provides a new bugfix.

p.s: I reported this issue over the phone and on Apple's FEED BACK webpage. Please I hope this issue gets resolved soon. Due to this issue, it is difficult to use spatial audio, which is one of the charms of the 2nd generation of AirPods Pro.

Yes, I am.

Double tapping under Head-tracking spatialized mode shows...

  1. Desynchronization of video and sound when playing Youtube movie clips.
  2. The playing shows Warping back to the point where the last synchronization is achieved repeatedly in playing movie clips using the Youtube app.
  3. Not Just Youtube, but the Music app(for Apple music).

The hardware has no problem. The Apple store's mech-man had shown it to me in front of my eyes,

Hello Onikusama,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities, and we'll be happy to help in any way we can. We understand you're having issues with your AIrPods after a firmware update. Try the steps listed here to see if they resolve the issue: How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro - Apple Support

"You might need to reset your AirPods if they won't charge, or to fix a different issue.

  1. Put your AirPods in their charging case, and close the lid.
  2. Wait 30 seconds.
  3. Open the lid of your charging case.
  4. With your AirPods in your ears and connected to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > Bluetooth, or Settings > [your AirPods], and tap the More Info button  next to your AirPods. If you don't see your AirPods in Settings > Bluetooth or in Settings > [your AirPods], just go to the next step.
  5. Tap Forget This Device, and tap again to confirm.
  6. With the lid open, press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until the status light on the front of the case flashes amber, then white.*
  7. AirPods charging cases
  8. Reconnect your AirPods: With your AirPods in their charging case and the lid open, place your AirPods close to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Follow the steps on your device's screen."

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

Facing the same issues with my AirPods Pro 1 and first generation AirPods. The current firmware has ruined all of my Airpods. AirPods not only don’t connect properly to my airpod but don’t charge properly. Shocked that apple have not corrected the firmware, everything was working fine before. Also shocked how we can’t downgrade firmware or check battery health of the airpods. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
