iPhone 14 storage full message when storage not full

I just got my iPhone 14 pro and at least once per day since I transferred everything over I get the storage full warning. Rebooting the phone sorts it temporarily (I’m using around 75GB of the 256GB) but eventually it warns me again.

how can I stop this happening?

You are correct. This is internal physical storage. Thanks for posting the screenshot.

Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

  • Press and quickly release Volume UP button
  • Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
  • Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears and then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. (DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF).

If the above does not resolve the storage issue then:

Do you have a backup created on iCloud or a computer? If NOT, then can you create a backupon iCloud or a computer?

My recommendation is that you 👉 Restore your iPhone to Factory Settings. Once that is done then 👉 Restore the iPhone from a backup.

The above process can get time consuming, however, may be worth the time to address this storage space issue.

It appears that your iPhone is informing you that the iCloud storage is full and not the physical storage of your iPhone. More than likely, you are subscribed to the 5GB Free portion of iCloud and your iPhone is attempting to back the data up to iCloud. Obviously 5GB is not enough to back up and sync your iPhone to iCloud because you have data that uses a greater space than that.

You can turn OFF backing up to iCloud by opening Settings ➡️ Apple ID (Your Name at Top) ➡️ iCloud ➡️ iCloud Backup ➡️ Backup this iPhone: Set this setting to OFF.

On the other hand, if you would like to purchase more storage space on iCloud then open Settings ➡️ Apple ID (Your Name at Top) ➡️ iCloud ➡️ Manage Account Storage ➡️ Change Storage Plan: Here, you can select the 200GB of space (instead of your free 5GB) and continue to backup and sync your iPhone data to iCloud.
