Car play iPhone 14 not working

is anyone else experiencing car play not working with iPhone 14 pro running 16.02 connecting to a bmw which is also latest software

I have tried all suggested solutions removing device adding again after restarting.

reset bmw iDrive , etc

bluetooth works and is able to stream music and car says car play is available but to function must remove device and rejoin. All this does is get back into the same loop

thank you

*Update -iOS 16.1 has resolved my car play issues. I noted in the release notes this release addressing car play issues when using a VPN. I use a VPN all the time.

Happy to have Car Play again, makes such a difference

I've had around 6 apple phones throughout this pioneer head unit and never had an issue. There only appears to be issues with the iPhone 14 Pro and pro Max throughout all different manufactures of both cars and stereos according to the apple community. Apple need to accept there is a problem and work on it quickly just like they attempted to with ios16.01 and 2.

There have ALWAYS been complaints when there is a new phone, OS upgrade, etc. If you contacted AppleCare and received a case ID it will be in Apple's system for it to be looked at in future updates. They will also contact Pioneer.

Pioneer has a history of a having problems in dealing with new phone and OS updates (and not just Apple). They usually very quietly release an update that fixes the problem. Except for the one time that they used firmware that couldn't be updated.

I am assuming that your head unit has its own GPS capability (most of them that I've seen do) so you can use Pioneer's until this is resolved (assuming it is not a problem with your particular unit but I'm sure you had that checked). Again, you can start your own post, with your specific model, and see if others here are having the issue. This thread is about BMW.

Or you can wait for iOS 16.0.3 or iOS 16.1 to be released.

Except that on by BMW it is working. On my friends Lincoln it is working.

This is a user-to-user technical support site operated by Apple, no Apple management nor executives are here and they won't be aware of the fact it is not working for you. Call AppleCare to report the issue and as I suggested start a new thread to see if others with a similar head unit have the same issue.

I would disagree that CarPlay is a safety feature and just because it is not working with your head unit doesn't mean it is not working on everyone's.

Since it is working on my BMW wireless it may not be an Apple issue. I suppose you called the dealer to confirm you have the latest firmware and they said they weren’t aware of an issue? The fact that it worked for a day then failed would point more to the car unless something happened to your phone. Apple can test it remotely.

There are many many complaints all of the same nature, with various different manufacturers etc all with the same issue.

It is a safety feature for myself when I spend a lot of time in my vehicles on the phone or using the sat nav.

I have reported the issue to apple twice now and all that have said is that it is possibly a manufacture update that is required, yet the manufactures are denying that saying there is nothing they are required to do. All I know is I've replaced my 3 year old phone with a phone that's worth in excess of £1700 and it's worse than the one it's replaced.
