Red a thread (unresolved) about this problem from a year ago. After updating to iOS 16 my alarm won’t play from the phones speaker if my AirPods are connected. This is a major issue as I often fall asleep with AirPods. In the morning they have fallen out of my ears and the phone is silent. Is this a bug or by design? Please fix.

The bug as of today is still here, I’m just trynna fall asleep with my AirPods music playing and be able to wake up to the alarm playing through the phone speakers. Cuz AirPods tend to fall out during sleep.
Yes, I did over sleep already twice due to this unannounced chance in standard behaviour. I believe there is no setting to change the standard output for alarms.
This was a bug in iOS 15 at one point too that was fixed. Started happening to me again after installing iOS 16. Really frustrating as I now have to set a backup alarm again. Thankfully I still have the alarm clock I bought specifically because of this bug the last time it happened.
I was mistaken - it was iOS 14 (14.7.1.) when I had this issue previously, not iOS 15. I found the support thread where I posted about this almost exactly a year ago.
