My iphone shipped w/ UPS on the 20th and it's the 25th today with latest update being:

I've received my trade-in kit already which says I need to return everything within 14 days.
Is this normal? What happens if my order doesn't get here within 14 days?

It isn't that odd, I have received the trade in kit prior to the product in the past. Not knowing what the date range for delivery was we don't know if the iPhone is late or not. They can always call AppleCare and discuss the situation with them.
I’ll say I have never had that happen then so from my own experience which I realize doesn’t represent all customers it is odd. I don’t personally know anyone that received the kit first. With that said…even if the phone is late in transit the OP definitely needs to reach out to Apple for clarity. It’s still possible that the in transit iPhone will arrive with enough time for the OP to mail in the their trade-in with no issue. But calling at least documents the account in case the delay causes issues
Contact Apple directly to get clarity on what to do about your trade in. Normally you don’t have to send it until after you receive your new phone but it’s odd that you already received your trade in kit.
