Mac g3

Hey i took the hardrive out of my very old 90s mac g3 as the computer completely stopped working. We have so many precious pictures on the hard drive but im really struggling to get access. I got an adapter and when plugged into a mac or a windows computer it shows that it isn’t readable. Im possibly thinking the software on my computers are too advanced to open such an old hardrive. Can anyone help me thanks Gabby

It looks like the disk has failed - which is probably why the old mac stopped working. It is possible that your adapter might not be compatible with the interface. Here is the specification for your drive:

Interface is Ultra-ATA/100 - is that supported by your adapter? Don't use a windows computer. Windows is unlikely to recognise the format of the drive.

Incidentally - the initialize option means format - which would also erase everything off the drive.
