How do I turn off the automatic power on

Greetings, I have a 2021 Macbook Air and if you touch the trackpad, keyboard, or plug or unplug anything from the 2 usb c ports, it will turn on. To me this is asking for trouble. How do I turn this feature off? I want to have more control over my Macbook and ONLY turn on when I hit the power button as in the ol' days. Other than that, it's a great and stable little flawless running Macbook.

Hello bubba-jr,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

Please use the steps here to put your Mac to sleep or wake it as listed here: Put your Mac to sleep or wake it - Apple Support

If your Mac is waking unexpectedly, please try the steps as listed here: If your Mac sleeps or wakes unexpectedly - Apple Support

If neither of these is what is happening, it sounds like it may be expected behavior. If so, we recommend leaving feedback to Apple here: Feedback - MacBook Air - Apple

Let us know if you have further questions.

Take care.
