I can't find my Final Cut Pro purchase and now I'm being told to re-purchase it?!

I bought the Macbook + Final Cut Pro Educational Bundle last year (2021) and installed it onto the Macbook as soon as I got it. After a few months, I had to sell the Macbook so I reset it to factory settings and sold it. Just yesterday, I bought a second hand macbook and when I went to install Final Cut Pro on it, I couldn't see it on my profile. I tried calling tech support but they just told me they couldn't do anything and I just needed to purchase it again. I asked to speak to someone else and they eventually said "You didn't register it, so it expried". That doesn't make sense because 1. They never sent any emails or messages informing me to register it. 2. They installed in on the macbook for me when I bought the bundle so I didn't even get a code to redeem (or regsiter) and 3. I've already installed it once using my Apple ID so I figured it was already regsitered to my ID.

I really don't want to purchase it again because I paid enough for it the first time!

What is the problem? Why can't I find it on my account? I have the confirmation email after purchase.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.6

Just got off the phone with the English speaking customer service line but unfortunately couldn't resolve the issue this session because the lady advised me to get in contact with the sales department that sold us the MacBook bundle, which just happens to be the South Korean Apple Website....I don't speak Korean and the lady I spoke to didn't have a translator to use so I had to reschedule a phone call from the Korean Sales Department so I can find someone who can help me translate.

She did however agree with my concerns and told me they should just be able to provide me with my original purchase (redemption code) so I can reinstall it on my new MacBook. Was so glad to hear this. She put it in my case ID notes so fingers crossed they are willing to give me to code. If not, by any unfortunate chance they don't have the code, I reallllly hope they are professional enough to provide me with another one.

You have mentioned that about a year ago you sold your Mac and shortly afterwards got a MacBook from work.

You were tempted to download FCP on this work Mac but decided not to.

However you were able to see that FCP was in your account on this work MacBook.

With this in mind.....

Do/did you have a different Apple ID for your work MacBook to your personal MacBook.?

If you do, then is it possible that FCP has been associated with your work Apple ID and not your personal one?

Do you still have your work MacBook to see if you can see FCP in your account on that machine using your personal ID or a work ID? If you have both, then try both.

Out of curiosity do you see apps such as iMovie in your account purchases?

iMovie is pre-installed and should appear in your purchases, even though it is "free".

Normally this should be accepted as well in order to associate it with your Apple ID.

Yes. I showed them the proof of purchase confirmation email they sent to me after purchase, which I presume is also the receipt as it showed all the prices, purchase methods and other details (no attached receipts).

But no...they aren't helping much, every call just ends with being told "because it was the educational bundle, it acted like a subscription for 12 months which then expired" but it doesn't make sense because it said and still does say that the bundle (Final Cut Pro and other apps) was a once off purchase with unlimited use after purchase.

Since it was a pre-installed app, I hoped they could provide me with the intital redemption code used to install the apps so I could try it again or something but nope...unfortunate.

As of yet, all calls to Apple Customer Service has lead back to the Korean Sales team. Every other country customer service line I've spoken to have been very helpful and kind but the Korean team is very rude saying they can't give us the redemption code, despite Singapore and Australian representatives saying they should.

They are even refusing to refund the app bundle knowing we can't download or use it. Totally ridiculous! :(

Apologies, we I say "I already downloaded it once" I meant it's already been installed once, i.e the pre-install. I pressume it was installed through my Apple ID, so I was under the impression that it was linked to me account and I could use it on different laptops (if I were to swap macbooks).

It was first installed (pre-installed) on the Macbook I bought the bundle with. I didn't have to do anything, I wasn't instructed to to do anything, so I just searched, opened and used it like a normal app. All was good. I have been told above that I had to agree or accept pre-installed apps but at the time of purchase, I wasn't given any information or inform to do any of that so I didn't know that was a thing. I know it was pre-installed meaning they did it for me but I didn't even get a code or reference code emailed to me.

Then when I decided to sell the laptop, I obvisously logged out of my apple account and whatnot (factory reset) and sold it. I did get a macbook from work shortly after which I was tempted to download it on but opted not too. Noting at that time, I was able to see it on my account.

Then fast forward a year or close to and I've got my current personal macbook that I bought solely to use final cut pro, and when I logged into my apple account, I couldn't see or find it. When I searched it up it only had the option to buy and not download/install.

Yes, I pressumed it was linked to my account but everytime I call up for help, I get a different answer, and funny enough one of the answers apart from them saying it was a subscription (when I know it was a one-of-payment) was that it was only linked up to the original macbook so we I factory reset the laptop, even though I logged out of my account beforehand, I must have deleted the app of the laptop permanently. Which to me doesn't sound right because it's not like I deleted it off my apple account.

Removing an app from your computer isn't the same as deleting it from the account you bought it from. If that were the case, all my purchased games (minecraft, steam, etc) would have been permanantly deleted too but they are perfectly fine.

I'm absolutely confused :/
