Notes drag and drop not working correctly

2020 M1 Mac Mini, 16GB ram, OS 12.6 Monterey.

When dragging and dropping text from any other app (eg Mail) into Notes, the text gets rearranged in Notes vertically. So A sentence dragged into Notes will be reformatted so that every letter is on its own line, usually at the end of the line.

Problem has persisted through all upgrades since I bought it about 10 months ago

Not sure if this is a known problem, I've searched and found nothing.

Mac mini, macOS 12.6

Just attempted the " Copy and Paste" method versus " Drag and Drop ".

Yes same single letter per line and all vertical

Then would suggest two possible solutions ;

1 - Get Support Choose a product and we’ll find you the best solution.

Start now and open an Apple Support Ticket as they are Paid Apple Employees to deal will these types of issues .

2 - Product Feedback - Apple and make it known to Apple regarding this ongoing issue as a possible Bug Report. Choose macOS as the Category

Yes thanks for verifying this - I forgot to mention that copy paste does the same thing.

I will contact Apple Support as you suggested

ok so I just did quick test to confirm my question.

The weird drag and drop behaviour only seems to happen when I drag and drop the text from a Mail message subject line into Notes. All other drag and drops I tried seem to work fine.
