What to yo if the orange dot pops up while no apps is open

It's possible that what you are seeing is an app running in the background.

The first thing we would suggest would be to power cycle the iPhone by pressing and holding either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears. Drag the slider and wait 30 seconds for the device to turn off. While simple, this can refresh the iOS, apps and connections. More information is available here:  Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

We notice that Low Power Mode is turned on. Please tap on Settings > Battery and toggle Low Power Mode off. LPM prevents some functions from operating. We want to be sure everything is working while troubleshooting.

If it continues, tap on Settings > General > Background App Refresh and see if anything that uses the microphone is enabled.

Access the Control Center. It should tell you what app is triggering the indicator at the top.
