CONTACTS LIST

With the introduction of IOS 16, my combined contacts list has 1,744 contacts, (work and iCloud). These lists are broken down within contacts to groups that I had setup (Coworkers, Family, Friends, Local Needs...). In prior IOS versions, I could bullet point chose which subgroups to display when browsing contacts on my iPhone, (typically just the 4 groups listed above were chosen). Now, it appears that all groups is the only option, so looking up a particular contact has become very cumbersome. Any solutions available and known to this group?
