Group message not populating in iMessage "New Message" Bar

Hi all!

I updated to iOS 16 on the first day it came out. Everything has been running smoothly, but when I go to start a new message to a group, named or unnamed, the group recipients (collectively) do not appear in the new message bar. This causes me to type in each recipient each time I need to send a message to the parties. I hate to have to start over from scratch, since I have not since 2011. So I'm not sure if there is a restore option or someway to reinstall and see if there is just a glitch somewhere.

Anyone else having this issue? I appreciate the help!

The very purpose of a group message is lost if you have to start all over again each time.

Send a group text message

  1. Open Messages and tap the Compose button .
  2. Enter the names or tap the Add button. to add people from your contacts.
  3. Type your message, then tap the Send button .
