Password change dialog - Unexpected HTTP Response: 400 Bad Request on first "New Password" field

I'm trying to update my password. When I enter a new password the page displays


Unexpected HTTP response: 400 Bad Request


immediately below the first "New Password" field.


Browser is Firefox 105.0 on Windows 10

First, have you tried another browser to see if the same thing occurs? If so, and it does, let's try these steps next.



Change your Apple ID password - Apple Support



"Change your Apple ID password on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple Watch

  1. Tap Settings > your name > Password & Security.
  2. Tap Change Password.
  3. In Apple ID settings, change your Apple ID password on iPhone
  4. Enter your current password or device passcode, then enter a new password and confirm the new password. Forgot your password?
  5. Tap Change or Change Password.


Change your child's Apple ID password on your iPhone

If you have an iPhone with iOS 16 or later and two-factor authentication turned on for your Apple ID, you can change the Apple ID password for a child account in your Family Sharing group.

  1. Tap Settings > Family > your child's account.
  2. Tap Apple ID & Password.
  3. Tap Change [Child's Name] Password.
  4. Enter your device passcode and follow the onscreen instructions.

Change your Apple ID password on your Mac

  1. Choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Apple ID.
  2. Click Password & Security.
  3. In System Preferences, change your Apple ID password on Mac
  4. Click Change Password. Before you can reset your Apple ID password, you'll be required to enter the password used to unlock your Mac. 



Change your Apple ID password on the web

  1. Sign in to appleid.apple.com.
  2. In the Sign-In and Security section, click Password.
  3. Change your Apple ID password on the web at appleid.apple.com
  4. Enter your current password, then enter a new password and confirm the new password. Forgot your password
  5. Click Change Password."
