Can’t find continuity camera?

Went to my settings >> general >> airplay handoff >> but do not have the “continuity camera webcam” toggle.

When will continuity camera automatically switch on? The following is found at the bottom of the page at macOS Ventura - New Features - Apple 8. Available on iPhone Xr and later. Automatic camera switching occurs when iPhone is locked, in landscape orientation, stationary, and with the camera unobstructed. However, my iPhone is automatically switching into continuity camera when I am using my phone (unlocked and in portrait) and in a completely different location than my MacMini; the room below my MacMini. I am having to press "disconnect" every few minutes when it attempts to connect again. So is this a bug or intended behavior? I do have a program running (OBS) that can use my iPhone as a camera. I'm assuming this was what is making my iPhone switch into continuity camera. But this is not the stated functionality of continuity camera automatic switching. My MacMini shouldn't be able to control my phone like that, which is why I think the above reference states that it automatically switches under strict conditions (and ONLY then?). It seems rather insecure if it is intended behavior, because a program can use my phone as a webcam when it isn't intended to be. Just poor security hygiene, especially because it is implied in the reference to be more secure than that. For clarity, when will the continuity automatically switch on?

Continuity camera odd behaviour Initially when I bought my M2pro Mac mini continuity camera seemed to work fine, now it only works if either the phone is connected via cable or (very strangely) if I plug in another webcam even though my other webcam does not produce an image it seems to trigger something that allows me to choose the iPhone continuity camera in FaceTime, MS Teams etc. Does anyone have a potential solution that would mean I don't need to keep a useless webcam plugged into my Mac just to enable continuity camera on my iPhone?

Continuity camera not working 'Unable to Connect Continuity Camera MacBook Pro is currently... To use Continuity Camera, disconnect Airplay first.' What does this mean???? I have tried everything, including support. The only thing that sometimes works is to restart my iPhone 12 Pro...it then works initially but seems to stop. Anyone else out there get this issue when the phone disconnects and then you try to use again as a camera? Any help is appreciated.

We'd like to help you find the best resolution path. If you are signed into the same Apple ID on both devices and do not see this option, we recommend making sure your device has the latest update following the steps in Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support. The versions available will be iOS 15.7 and iOS 16. After updating check to see if this remains. We hope this helps. Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
