Multi Factor Authentication

What happens if I lose my phone? How do I verify my account to access my email via a computer at that point? I don't have an ipad or care to have one.

I tried to turn the MFA off but it is not possible.

Set up multiple trusted phone numbers. They can vibe Androids, landlines, and can belong to a friend or relative. See the "Manage your account" section of Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support
