iOS 16 stuck on progress bar for 48 hrs.

I haven iPhone 11 Pro that I use for work. I decided to upgrade to iOS 16 on Sunday night, well it got stuck on the black screen with the progress bar so after a few hours I did a force restart and it got stuck on this white screen. I left it on the charger all night and after about 10+ hrs. it was still stuck. I let the battery die, tried to reboot after charging and same thing. I only have the option to swipe up to upgrade and once the download begins, the progress bar gets stuck at the very end. I cannot connect it to a computer because it requires a 6 digit security code which I cannot access because I can't get the white screen to go away.

So, do I just toss the phone? I'm not sure what else to do here. Apple support was zero help - they could only advise me to do what I had already done.

If your iPhone is stuck on the progress bar updating to iOS 16

From Apple Support site:

  1. If you think the update is stuck, press one of the buttons. If you see an updating message, the update is still in progress. In some cases, you may see the progress bar complete, then start again.
  2. If the update or restore never completes or your device is unresponsive, force your device to restart.
  3. If your device has been in this state for several hours, contact Apple Support.

The phone will not connect to iTunes nor the computer due to it being stuck. If I connect my iPhone 13, it immediately recognizes it. I presume it is not detecting the phone because it is stuck on the screen?

This is all I get - swipe up to upgrade and then a complete progress bar that stays stuck. It doesn't try to reboot itself or anything.

They also told me to force restart the phone. As I stated in my OP, they advised me to take the exact same steps that I had taken before reaching out to them. When they told me that they couldn't help me, they scheduled a call back... which I never received.

I'm not sure how I would connect the iPhone to my computer and put it in DFU mode? As I stated, in order to log in to my device and manage through iTunes, I have to verify the 6 digit code sent to my phone number. I cannot receive alerts or get to my text messages because the phone is stuck on that screen. So the two-factor authentication code will not work and I can't access my account.

If it didn't connect and go into DFU mode when you followed the directions in that article either you can't follow directions and did it wrong or there is a hardware problem with your iPhone and I suspect the latter. So making and appointment at your Apple Store (do so prior to going or it will be something else you can be mad about) would be the best thing for you. But try to be pleasant when you go.
