hey siri only works with airpods, not with macbook

macbook pro monterey 12.6 when my airpods are connected via bluetooth, "hey siri" works. when the airpods are not connected, "hey siri" doesn't work. what am i doing wrong?

Airpods Pro one squeeze brings up Siri on Mac On my iPhone one squeeze on either Airpod plays & pauses as desired, but on my Mac it brings up Siri. Disabling Siri as an attempt to solve the issue does not work – Squeezing once produces a clicking sound but does nothing. Calls on Mac Mini M1 via AirPods I have a problem where if my airpods is connected to my Mac Mini and i enter a call the sound quality decreases immensly, the reciever also gets poor audio from my mic. I would like to ask for recommendations to fix that issue somehow. The AirPods connects to the Mac perfectly,the problem only occures during calls, like a discrod call or a google merting for instance. The AirPods works perfectly during calls if it’s connected to another device. Thanks for your reply in advance.
