Pages and Google Drive Compatibility

Hello,

I use Pages on my MacBook Pro to annotate PDFs. I highlight them, draw on them, and sometimes add text. However, when I try and upload these annotated PDFs to my Google Drive, the highlights on my pages turn into resolvable comments on my Google account. The underlining and text on the PDF stays, so the only issue is with the highlighter.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? I would love to be able to move my annotated Pages into my Google Drive to save storage on my laptop.

Thanks.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 12.6

Pages cannot open PDFs and thus, cannot annotate them either. Pages documents are incompatible with Google Drive.

Apple's Preview application (or Adobe Acrobat Reader DC) are designed as PDF readers and have annotation tools. If you annotate a PDF with Preview and save it. Then upload that PDF to Google Drive, does the latter mess up your annotations? If it does, then you need to flatten your PDF annotations by using Preview's Print > PDF > Save as PDF before uploading the PDF to Google Drive. This save process merges the annotations into the original PDF content and the PDF no longer has an annotation layer.
