iPhone 14 Pro - intermittent Wifi

Hi anyone else experiencing this issue - when connected to Wi-Fi I get this occasional issue where my phone sort of stops / pauses - it happens in web pages in safari or chrome which stop loading completely; or an app which fails to load or refresh content. It’s intermittent but getting to the point where I’m switching off Wi-Fi and relying on 5G. The issue does not reoccur in 5G. I’m on iOS 16.0.2.

Steps I’ve taken to fix this issue include:

1) Switching Wi-Fi off and on

2) Switching iPhone on / off

3) Restarting iPhone

4) Reset network settings to factory

5) Removed iPhone from network and rejoining

6) Reset Wi-Fi Network

7) Clearing cache and settings in Safari & Chrome

Thanks

VP

I’m horribly disappointed with my iPhone 14 pro. Started off with the useless move to iOS app that didn’t migrate most of my messages and photos. Then the iMessage and Wi-Fi issues that everyone else is reporting. I trusted that the iOS updates would fix it, but they have not addressed any of it. I’ve followed all the fixes to no avail. I would have returned this brick of uselessness within the 14 days but I was told that the iOS fixes would be forthcoming to address these issues. Still nothing. I’m just waiting for the class action suit to remedy some of this. I might just sell it and go back to a Samsung Galaxy. My super old S7 works perfectly on the same Wi-Fi network that my 14 pro refuses to work on. $1200 not well spent.

Restarting my Eero mesh system was of no benefit. After thorough testing, Apple swears my iPhone 14 pro Max is in perfect working order and is completely updated. Apple pointed at the internet provider as the likely culprit, and suggested a router restart. Yet, after restarting the router system, the iPhone 14 Pro Max continued to drop internet randomly, while four other devices operated smoothly. At an apparent dead end with Apple, I returned to Spectrum, whose representatives similarly denied any problems with their internet service. I turned to Eero, and their tech support staff finally suggested turning off iPV6 in my iPhone settings, and going back to iPV4, the older system as I understand it. After the change to the older system, the iPhone 14 Pro Max has retained internet connectivity better than before, but it still drops it on occasion despite four other devices functioning flawlessly. It is a real mystery. I also find other idiosyncrasies with my new iPhone 14 Pro Max’s performance. For example, the touchscreen seems hypersensitive at times. I can make phone calls by merely placing my phone on the passenger’s seat while driving. (Is there a way to require an actual pressured touch to begin phone calls, including FaceTime calls?)

As a second example, the iPhone 14 Pro Max seems very prone to freezes/screen lockups.

Personally, I am eagerly awaiting a further iPhone software update to resolve issues that I never experienced with my iPhone 13, or my iPhone 12. My wife simply laughs at me and says to join her in Android. Not me. At least not yet.

Me too! Its they act like they don’t know about this known issue or after and hour explaining they pass you to someone else. after this intermittent issues since I got this phone, I have 500 photos not syncing then a complete failure. I have had to reinstall and lost all my work. Yet it would back up. The math on the files does not add up. I have a 1tb iPhone 14 pro and it costs a-lot of money to now effecting my business. Worked with my internet provider and apple. The intermittent connection issues did not happen else were but it started to effect out other phones and couldn’t share yet i could shared and upload video but not photos. They say that doesn’t make sense. Ya I agree. Fix it with your engineers not me. I do t have time to work for apple for free. How can they sell us phones with huge storage and only give us 2T . My storage isn't full though. I explained there is more than one issue happening and its compiling. Thats not good for business. Follow up with your customers apple.

Ok so none of this has worked for me on my 14 pro.

Ever sine I got it in Oct 22 it’s had the problem of dropout on wifi. This happens multiple times a day and the short term fix is simply swapping between 2.4 and 5 GHz. This works for a few minutes to a few hours but is incredibly frustrating.

My old 8 Plus, iPad, MacBook and tv have no issue staying connected so it’s definitely 100% the phone.

To try and resolve it I’ve done the suggested resets, removed VPN, changed routers, restarted multiple times and it’s still happening.

The real solution has to come from Apple as nothing else works for me!

I had a baffling problem connecting Mac Mini M1 to Ethernet. Turned out it the WiFi router was blocking it as an unknown device. Went into the Netgear router control app and allowed the Mini - and voila, working fine.

NOW, WITH the iPhone 14 Pro, another baffling problem - NO INTERNET. Okay, very old brain at last remembered what worked with the Mini. Sure 'nuff, allowed the phone on the Netgear app and we have wi-fi. Hope this helps.

Just letting you know I experienced the same issue, along with my apps showing "no internet connection" for up to 30 seconds, eventually joining. I was getting nowhere fast with my service provider and Apple - in that the suggested fixes did not work - however I read on here about the VPN issue so tried that myself. Removed the VPN app as well as from Norton Settings and the phone fixed itself immediately. I have now re-set up the VPN to test and the issue has not reappeared. Cheers

I bought my iPhone 14 in October 2022. A few weeks ago my phone started dropping wifi at home.

What I have tried (same as most have posted here):

-Turning wifi off/on

-Forgetting and rejoining the network

-Resetting network settings

-Rebooting the phone

-Rebooting the router

Some of this would work some of the time. Sometimes it would go back on the network right away, but usually not. Sometimes it would stay connected for several hours, and sometimes it would drop it within a few minutes. I have a Gateway through Xfinity/Comcast, and I finally replaced that. The 14 stayed on with no issues for about a day, and now it's back to the same problems. All other devices in the house have no issues (2 TVs, an iPhone SE, my old iPhone XS, 2 older iPhones used for music, 2 laptops, a desktop, a pod, Sonos, and a Kindle). I've never had a VPN. It has nothing to do with what apps or browser I'm using. The phone just won't stay on the wifi consistently at all. The phone has worked flawlessly besides this issue.

The age of this thread concerns me. I really hope there is a solution soon.

Well, I believe I was wrong about my iPhone 14 being the issue.

I noticed when going into the Xfinity app and running tests that although my pod was connected with a strong signal, there was limited performance indicated. I unplugged the pod, removed it from the network, got everything reconnected to the Gateway modem/router, and now everything has been working fine since, which was a few days ago.

This was causing my iPhone 14 as well as my laptops and kids' Xbox and Kindle to disconnect and fail to reconnect. So the Xfinity pod was the issue (not sure if it needs to be reset or is just failing, although it's not even two years old). I hope this helps someone!

Yes - I have had this since I upgraded ( no WiFi issues as works on all other devices ) - and did n’t on my IPhone 12 before that .

Virtually every website I go into ( and apps ) I either get a blank white screen or it just freezes while trying to open the website - if I switch off WIFi - try on 4g/5g it often works - and then put WiFi back on - it may work but not 100% .

Also on the Daily Mail app in particular - w- I can’t open stories / articles the first time ( I get a blank white screen ) - I can’t read them unless I “arrow “ back out and go back in - it’s driving me crackers !

Hi, the connectivity issues on this phone are apparent. I have an iPhone XS that can pull more upload and download from my AX router, even though the iPhone XS does not support WiFi6 that my AX router can do. My wife and I have the same cell phone carrier but her signal is always better. She can make calls and text people but not me, the phone is SOS mode.

I had the exact same issue, worked with apple support for a week, worked with an app vendor for a week and the end result from both was send the phone back. As a last ditch effort I factory defaulted the phone and deleted EVERYTHING out of it and set it up again from my old phone and it now works perfectly.

also if you have any beta firmware or apps DO NOT INSTALL THEM FROM THE BACKUP. Install them from scratch on the new phone.
