Is it ok to upgrade directly to Big Sur from High Sierra?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Is always wise to make a back-up of all your important data before upgrading.
and to
check your Mac has plenty of memory / storage free for the upgrade., and the upgrade process.
Now High Sierra uses 32 bit apps whereas Big Sur uses 64 bit apps.
So yes, your Mac model and Mac OS seems compatible to upgrade to Big Sur ..... however to update smoothly you might want to check for any non-Apple apps on your Mac that will not be compatible with Big Sur.
You could use the uninstallers from the developers of any non-Apple 32 bit apps before updating.
After updating you may be able to install 64 bit versions of any non-Apple apps that are necessary to you.
