Apple Watch

So I’ve found a series 5 Apple Watch with a broken screen in my new tent while on rotation overseas. The unit who was in the tent before me is long gone and the Watch was out in the open as if left intentionally. I want to keep the Watch but don’t want to spend money on repairs if I can’t pair the Watch to my iPhone. Is there anything more I can do besides the factory reset I have already performed? Or is the Watch a lost cause and I should just throw it away
