Watch Ultra shows No Sim \ No connection \ Not in use

After the update to watchOS 9.0.1 my Ultra watch shows the following info under Mobile Service:

Plan - No Sim

Status - No Connection

And in the Watch App it shows my Vodafone plan under the label NOT IN USE.

I mention that the watch worked just fine before the update, I tried the following but nothing works:

  • Restart watch
  • Restart Phone
  • Removed provider plan
  • Add new plan (the provider confirmed the second plan is active)
  • Restart both devices a couple of times.

If anyone has any ideas or knows how to fix this issue please help!

Thanks!

I have an fully updated S6 watch with no cellular plan and in ICCID block it only lists no SIM. So listing "-" may not be the problem

I am in USA and have AT&T and my cellular in my Ultra works fine with 9.0.1.

Thus seems to be a problem with either Vodafone or Vodafone interface with watch OS.

I would contact Apple support.

However. first I would try unpairing the watch and the setup the watch again.

Hi,

I’ve unpaired the watch, removed the plan, started the setup as a new watch (not from a Backup)… the issue is still there, I can’t get it to connect.

I got into some more details and found out that in the Watch app there is no ICCID.

It only displays a “—“ in the app and in watch settings “No Sim”

Update… In the same way the problem started, after about two weeks of trying everything, one morning the connection was up and running, just like that, without any special action on my part or otherwise.

Now I’m going to run the update to 9.0.2🤞🏼

I just had this happen to me going from 9.0.0 to 9.0.2. Did anyone else who experience this do both a watch upgrade and iphone upgrade back to back? I wonder if something gets corrupted while a device is settling after an upgrade and you start another one on the other device.

Updating to 9.0.2 didn’t create any issues for me. FYI: I did not update my phone at all during this time, only the watch.

Because it seems that, at least for my carrier (Vodafone), it takes some time to run it’s backend processes to update the changes made by the user in frontend it could be a couple of hours or maybe more…

My advice is to clear the configuration from the watch and from the carrier account, wait a full 24h cycle and then set up the connection again.

Best of luck!🤞🏼

I had this issue and just solved it for my situation. I removed the Cellular plan and then went to re-add the plan. On re-adding the plan the E911 address needed to be added and verified for WiFi calling. Once that was confirmed the watch connected to the cellular plan.

Hi there, and thanks for sharing. Would you please clarify the E911 address you are referring to? I have the same problem and attempted to restart iPhone & Apple watch ultra, removed and re-installed the cellular plan twice, and problem still persists. FWIW, my ICCID is also showing a "-" with no number. I'm on iOS 16.1.1 and watchOS 9.1.

I am experiencing the same issue, called T-mobile and they could not help, they are saying the issue is with OS9.0 through 9.2. what is interesting is the T-mobile is offering the Apple watch ultra with the lates software release.

I find this misleading.
