iPhone 14 Pro - Wireless Charging not working with slim standard case and standard QI charger

I have that same Belkin stand, (or one very similar, bought when I got my XS), my new 14 doesn't seem to want to charge. Just a simple Caseology case on it, (Parallax Mag), but it won't work. Any ideas?

Never questioned the point of MagSafe. My mentioning ME not being impressed is no different than you singing it’s praises. You love it and for all intents and purposes are impressed. Personal preference but not a fact for everyone. Me not being impressed…same thing. Personal preference.

FYI…I’m not here because I have any issues with charging. All of my non- MagSafe chargers work every time and is reliable. I’m here because the OP and others had a problem and I chimed in to let it be known that whatever issue they are experiencing isn’t universal as I am not personally having the issue….which may help eliminate a software issue being the culprit as was mentioned as an assumed possibility. I think you may have confused me for those with the issue.

I have been lucky thankfully. I have never had an issue with charging any of my iPhones since the iPhone 4 out of the box or otherwise. So I can’t really relate to the issues you have had that required the iOS to be updated to work. Honestly…I haven’t had many issues with any of my iPhones period. With exception of a few iOS bugs (like when the one of the updates to ios 16 seemed to break air drop but was quietly fixed when 16.1 released) I’ve been pretty problem free. Fingers crossed my streak continues.

The 14 Pro Max and Pro are largely the same when it comes to induction coil placement.

It doesn't matter whether is a Pro or Pro Max. The exact same things Dogcow and I have explained apply equally.

I just bought a new 2023 Kia Sorento and new iphone14pro and it doesn’t work in the wireless charger. I called Apple and they said I should call Kia I brought it back to the dealer and they couldn’t make it work either. It is very annoying what is the reason of having it now what

You're right. But then Apple didn't design the charging plate in any car. Automobile Manufacturers design them. If they don't work with a phone (whether it be Apple, Samsung, Google or Sony), Apple has no ability in any way to do anything about the charging plate the manufacturer installed in the car.

1) Apple did not abandon anything; wireless charging works wonderfully with a 14 Pro

regardless of whether you are using a standard Qi charger or a MagSafe charger, just as it does on a 14 and 14 Pro Max.

2) MagSafe charging on an iPhone is a magnetic locating ring that surrounds the wireless charging pad. There is no physical connection, it’s purely wireless charging that provides an assist in colocating the phone’s charging coil over the charging pad’s.

So you are incorrect on both counts.

What wireless charging pad did they give you? Just because it was included by a retailer does not mean it will work with your device.

The MagSafe charging puck always works.

But so does the Mophie I bought to use with my iPhone X.

Your experience with your car is exactly what I've said before - it's due to poor assumptions made by your auto maker.

The design flaw was made by your car's manufacturer, not Apple, and only they can fix it should they choose to.

Apple is without blame here; device manufacturers are not responsible for what third-party accessory makers do or to force their new devices to conform to those bad assumptions.

A great example is automotive cup holders; it's not McDonald's responsibility to limit all future cup designs to only those that would fit in existing vehicle cupholders.

Our 14 Pro is the exact same size and shape as your iPhone 14 Pro and yet, in our Mercedes it charges. I will say the 14 Pro is in a case, which is MagSafe as we use MagSafe charging at home and office. We rarely charge our phone wirelessly in the car. It's usually in a cup phone holder, plugged in for Apple CarPlay as our Mercedes isn't wireless CarPlay capable and needs to be plugged in for CarPlay to work.

Which if you look at my earlier post, makes no difference whatsoever for any well-designed charger.

You can see that the "camera bump" doesn't allow it to lie flat, and it makes no difference to the phone (which charges properly) or the charger (which doesn't stop charging it.)

It is also a Mophie charger designed for the iPhone X, so it's not a Qi charger designed for the iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max in particular nor does it have MagSafe.

So what’s your answer to a wireless charger in the car that won’t work. Plenty big enough for my IPhone 14 pro Max , but as the phone won’t lay flat against the charger it won’t charge !!

So do you suggest I go and replace my 2021 car so I can charge my phone ?

And no I don’t want to use old

fashioned cables. I specifically paid extra to have wireless charging. It worked great on my old IPhone !
