Safari 16.0--maps are squished on websites (MacBook Pro)

This is particularly true of Google Maps, which are used by many websites. Location is enabled everywhere. The map displays correctly for a second, and then squishes to a thick line. All the colors of the map are there; areas are still active. Started right after upgrade to Safari 16.0.
