Apple Maps ... Help?

I will start with what I am using

Macbook Air 13 running Big Sur

iPhone 11 running iOS 16

iPad Mini 2 running iOS 12.5.5

Lets not get into how old they are. The issue is across the board.

I use Google as my search engine, when I put into Safari Google wants to you Google Maps. I want to use (or at least try it out) Apple Maps the updates to look good. I have searched and tried every option I could find.

The set to default in settings on all 3

I have removed the Google Maps app on each device. All I get there is it opens in Safari as the web version of Google Maps.

Tried other search engines and still no luck. Do I need to reset my phone and pad?
